Official P.T. starts tomorrow....
Well, tomorrow is the big day for Ellie. I have waited to start potty-training until now. She will be 3 in August and we have lots going on this summer so I knew I had to start this spring. We have 2 weeks before we have to travel and most of May we will be here. She is really starting to show readiness and excitement. I tried once before and she would just scream and protest against the potty and undies. She has gone 3 times already today, but tomorrow we are saying bye-bye to diapers. She has always been one on her own schedule and will tell us when she wants to try something. Anna is the complete opposite. She has no fear and loves to try new things. Anyways, I know it will take much longer than 2 weeks to really have it accomplished, but you have to start somewhere. Any advice? I hope you all are having a great week. My mom has been here for the past week while Mike was at a conference in Chicago and we had a great time. It was great to have extra help. I have lots of pictures to post soon!

my biggest thing was that i just had to get used to the fact that there will sometimes be accidents...thats just normal! for the first week i had him sit about every twenty minutes until he got used to. we also probably made it harder on ourselves by putting him in diapers if we were nervous about going somewhere....you have to start to trust that they will tell you or they will never get the hang of it. now i just need to know about what to do for nap and night time.? good luck, i'm sure she will do great...and just remember it will all be worth it....in the $ you save and the gross poops you won't have to change!!
We just stayed home for days and just put the big girl undies on Cana...and washed a lot of laundry. When she was in diapers she could care less if she went in there...but in the undies...it was uncomfortable, so she knew when she was wet/poopy. We also sat her on the potty about every 20 minutes and also gave her a lot to drink. I have noticed that with Cana, it only takes about 15-20 minutes after drinking something that she needs to go. We also put up a little paper in the bathroom and she got to put a sticker on it every time she peed in the potty (she still does this) as a little incentive. Really works well! (or a mini oreo:)for poopies)
We also allowed Cana to sit for lengthy periods of time on the potty watching Dora or something so that she would eventally go in the potty so we could show her the peepee and praise her for keeping her big girl undies clean and dry. ..even if it took 20 minutes:) She loved that too, and seemed to help.
Hello! So nice to hear from you. Actually, Shawn Smith has mentioned your husband a couple times in passing as he was giving us advice in our move to Dallas. My fiance was the one who graduated from Shiloh in 05'. I have been to Springdale many times since we started dating and I have really enjoyed the new friendships that I have made. I am actually from Atlanta, Ga and Matt and I met here at Liberty University. We will be getting married May 31st and coming home to Dallas from our honeymoon around the 10th of June! Thank you so much for contacting us and we would love to keep in touch!
Areyna would never do the "sit on the potty every 30 min. or every hour" thing. She only goes like 4 times a day and would protest big time. We did do the sticker chart with her and she liked that too. Whatever you choose to do jJust stay with it. Even if you get so tired of PEE and POOP just keep those big girl undies on her and she'll get it!! I'm not kidding...I'll pray for you=)
You will have to tell me everything that works. Carsen hates trying new things too!
